Syria in early September signed three contracts for onshore oil and gas exploration with Russian companies on the sidelines of the Damascus International Fair. 

Syrian Oil Minister Ali Ghanem said that the three contracts included surveying, drilling and production in the central and eastern regions of the country.

Ghanem noted that the contracts were signed as a result of a 2018 roadmap protocol between Syria and Russia.
