Lebanon will drill its first exploratory oil and gas well in Block 4 off the coast of Beirut by January, caretaker Energy Minister Nada Bosutani said. 

Boustani said the exact drill date depends on when a drill ship contracted by Total arrives in Lebanese waters. 

The ship is currently still undertaking works in Egyptian waters. Should drilling begin in January, it would mark a slight delay in the originally announced date of December.
